Between Mercury stationing direct today, Chiron stationing retrograde, Neptune stationing retrograde yesterday and Saturn, while now direct, still barely moving, I’m stuck in neutral along with lots of other people. Maybe this is affecting me more because it’s a third house/Mercury event in my chart. Neptune and Chiron are both in my third house and Mercury is opposing my natal Mercury from the sixth house.
The Sun is in Gemini revving everyone up to talk, talk, talk but nothing is coming out! Well, maybe a whole lot of nothing. :::grin::: Personally I’m getting all these wonderful ideas that whip across the front of my mind and disappear into smoke. Oh, sometimes I’m making a note here and there but will have to review this info at a later date when the fog lifts.
This photo of a hummingbird at my feeder illustrates this well – going a gazillion miles an hour and going nowhere. Getting a good shot here and there is actually a pretty good use of Neptune in the third.
Let’s see if next week will be better than this last one.
Ever since Saturn turned direct last Saturday, I’ve become increasingly aware I may have taken on a whole lot more than I can reasonably handle. Neptune sitting in my third house and squaring my Mercury and Ascendant since the first of the year may have been the reason it took me so long to figure this out – that and because I’m a typically stubborn fixed sign type. So now I’m spread so thin I’m transparent.
In many ways this situation is an extension of having Saturn transiting my tenth house while opposing Uranus in my fourth – career vs home. With the growing season in full swing and the beginning of harvest starting within a few weeks, there is no way I can spend as much time in front of a computer as I did during the winter months. Therefore I need to make every moment I have to spend here count. That’s why I added the widget for my Twitters to the sidebar – quick and dirty astro-updates for all.
The custom spinning and knitting projects are history too. They take far too much time and energy as well as aggravating my delicate wrists. It seems a serious carpal tunnel flare up quickly becomes a chronic problem no matter how careful one is. I wear braces on both wrists now when I’m typing. To say this is very frustrating for someone who uses their hands as much as I have and do is putting it mildly. But when Saturn says get your act together, you do it. As I mentioned in a comment on a previous post, Saturn will be riding herd on me very closely for six years or so as it conjuncts all my personal planets and Ascendant.
Blogging has turned out to be very good for me. I love reading and responding to those of you who comment regularly and have become cyber-friends. And it gives me a place to vent as well as throw out thoughts and ideas I have about astrology. Because of this I’m planning on maintaining my usual once a week post or video. How Elsa P manages to produce the body of work she does for ElsaElsa is beyond me, not to mention managing AstroDispatch. Gah
While Saturn’s change of direction is making itself felt as long as Mercury is retrograde, the greatest sense of movement is not likely to manifest until mid-June (when Mercury returns to the degree it went Rx). As long as Saturn is in Virgo, Mercury will dance a little more to his tune since Virgo is Mercury ruled. Anyone else noting a shift with Saturn direct?
image: I took this pic on our trip into the mountains to look for morels last Wednesday. The snow covered mountain in the background is at about 6,000 ft and the breeze had a real edge to it!
Saturn has moved back to within a degree of my Midheaven reminding me to clean up my act. With Neptune & Co in my third house, staying organized has been a real challenge because my edges are so blurry. Right now I am scattered all over the place – or so it feels.
With a natal Mercury inconjunct Uranus, my moments of brilliance are followed by longer periods when I feel incoherent. That’s the primary reason I prefer to do written reports rather than phone consults or in person. Thinking quickly is not my forte but being willing to consider something in depth is. To put this way: I have the ability to discern patterns easily but explaining what I see clearly and tactfully requires much more time and effort.
To summarize my video: if you are interested in what I have to say about astrology, read this blog, my posts on Real Astrologers, and my tweets. I don’t write about astrology on my Facebook page. My goal is to not totally burn out attempting to keep up with all this. We’ll see . . .
Mercury returns to Taurus today and will join the Sun in squaring Neptune & Co over the weekend and early next week, affecting those with planets and Angles from 25-26 degrees in the fixed signs the most. Anyone else beginning to get the idea life is about to take one of those interesting turns?
I’m starting to look forward to the periods when Mercury is retrograde because the pace of our fast forward life often slows down some. How in the world did we end up feeling driven to go faster and faster?
It sure wasn’t fixed sign types like Taurus folk who promoted it. They vastly prefer to amble along at their own speed. Leo always wants his audience to sit enthralled as long as possible with plenty of encores, and Scorpios just want to be left alone to do what Scorpios do. Hee hee
We can all use the example of our fixed sign friends and take more time to savor our lives instead of rushing frantically from one place to another. The only people I know who really thrive on multi-tasking are those with lots and lots of mutable energy (especially of the Gemini variety), or many Uranus aspects in their charts.
I live my life somewhere in between the high-speed world of instant communications and a laid-back rural life. Here I am writing a post for a blog on the internet while planning on sitting quietly this evening working on a cross-stitch Christmas stocking for my granddaughter. There is wool waiting to be dyed and spun too. Yet I love the internet and all its infinite variety.
There are cabbage and broccoli plants sitting on the porch that were started from seed indoors a few weeks ago that I carry outside during the day and inside at night. They will be ready to transplant this weekend. When they are ready to harvest, I’ll freeze them to eat next winter. All of this takes lots of time and patience. Most people these days just go grab something at a fast food place or the grocery store and never stop to think about how much went into growing and preparing what they eat. I won’t even go into quality, taste, nutrition, etc, etc . . .
This is a roundabout way of saying Mercury retrograde offers something besides annoyances. Could there be a correlation between our modern, tech oriented life and the reason Mercury retrogrades have such a bad reputation for being disruptive? The cows and horses grazing in the pasture aren’t the least bit concerned about what’s going upstairs!
Anybody have some good Mercury retrograde stories for a change of pace?

Here's a link to the post I wrote on the Full Moon in Scorpio and one to my latest thoughts on Saturn in synastry. Both of these are on Real Astrologers, the website I share with Pat Paquette.
When I was writing my Full Moon post I noted a Yod with Pluto at the apex and Mercury sextile the South Node but passed on attempting to interpret it. Thankfully Julie Demboski didn't. Here's a link to her take on this Yod: When Pluto Points at You: Finger of God
I have added a donation button to my sidebar for those who are inspired to make a contribution or leave me a tip. I promise to keep these monies in circulation to help others. :-D
Thank you very much!!
