Reality Check – Saturn Direct

Ever since Saturn turned direct last Saturday, I’ve become increasingly aware I may have taken on a whole lot more than I can reasonably handle. Neptune sitting in my third house and squaring my Mercury and Ascendant since the first of the year may have been the reason it took me so long to figure this out – that and because I’m a typically stubborn fixed sign type. So now I’m spread so thin I’m transparent.

In many ways this situation is an extension of having Saturn transiting my tenth house while opposing Uranus in my fourth – career vs home. With the growing season in full swing and the beginning of harvest starting within a few weeks, there is no way I can spend as much time in front of a computer as I did during the winter months. Therefore I need to make every moment I have to spend here count. That’s why I added the widget for my Twitters to the sidebar – quick and dirty astro-updates for all.

The custom spinning and knitting projects are history too. They take far too much time and energy as well as aggravating my delicate wrists. It seems a serious carpal tunnel flare up quickly becomes a chronic problem no matter how careful one is. I wear braces on both wrists now when I’m typing. To say this is very frustrating for someone who uses their hands as much as I have and do is putting it mildly. But when Saturn says get your act together, you do it. As I mentioned in a comment on a previous post, Saturn will be riding herd on me very closely for six years or so as it conjuncts all my personal planets and Ascendant.

Blogging has turned out to be very good for me. I love reading and responding to those of you who comment regularly and have become cyber-friends. And it gives me a place to vent as well as throw out thoughts and ideas I have about astrology. Because of this I’m planning on maintaining my usual once a week post or video. How Elsa P manages to produce the body of work she does for ElsaElsa is beyond me, not to mention managing AstroDispatch. Gah

While Saturn’s change of direction is making itself felt as long as Mercury is retrograde, the greatest sense of movement is not likely to manifest until mid-June (when Mercury returns to the degree it went Rx). As long as Saturn is in Virgo, Mercury will dance a little more to his tune since Virgo is Mercury ruled. Anyone else noting a shift with Saturn direct?

Maybe accountability. The amount of long-hidden truth being unearthed and disclosed of late is astounding, and probably more to come.

I sympathize with the wrist. I had a job once that caused some strain on them, but I was able to quit that and they have recovered. But if I type for a really long time the outer aspect of the wrists start aching. Be careful!

Hi Joe!! Good to "see" you again!

hi, i find this post very interesting. someone i care deeply about suffers with depression (maye bi polar) and for the last 2 years whilst saturn is in virgo (his 2nd huse cusp is 17.03 virgo) takes a step forward and 2 back. he has a leo ascendant, libra sun and a gemini moon. last year he hid the whole time saturn was retrograde, and got in contact 10 days after it moved forward. the day saturn went retrograde at new year, he cut me off again, saying that he needs to be on his own in his own mess.i havent heard from him since. i have a feeling i will be hearing from him soon now saturn has turned direct, especially when the sun and moon are in mercury. im asuming that as it is transisting his first house,he feels like he needs to be on his when saturn has gone retrograde?

Neith, won't Saturn also give you some nice sextiles to those personal planets and Ascendant before it gets around to conjuncting them?

I can attest to "when Saturn says get your act together, you do it" re: physical stuff. I developed RSI in the form of tendonitis and muscle strains this winter and had to set some limits at work when Saturn was transiting my Sun. Also my natal Mars in Taurus (out of sign square Pluto) will generally persist with dogged determination - now Neptune & Co. are squaring that.

Saturn direct is making me question other things as it heads in for its final transit to my Sun and square my natal Saturn. Some doses of reality. Will have to see how it plays out, but it will no doubt involve setting limits and making choices based on what I really value (Sun in 2nd house).

Welcome, Kat!

Saturn transiting the first is not easy, especially if it happens before the first Saturn Return around 29-30. Keep in mind, some time over the next 2 1/2 yrs or so, Saturn will conjunct his Libra Sun too. Perhaps this will give him the necessary push to find the help he needs. One can hope . . .

Hey leslee my friend!

Neith, won't Saturn also give you some nice sextiles to those personal planets and Ascendant before it gets around to conjuncting them?Yes, in fact Saturn in Virgo sextile my Scorpio stuff has helped considerably. Sextiles are one of my favorite aspects - just enough differences to keep things interesting and enough the same for harmony.

One thing about being as old as I am, this will be the third time Saturn has conjuncted all my personal degrees. Third time's the charm, right?! :::grin::: I'm sure I will be blogging about this as it happens.

I can attest to "when Saturn says get your act together, you do it" re: physical stuff.Oh definitely. I also had to make some serious changes to my diet. Have almost completely eliminated meat and cheese. Lots of rice, beans and vegetables. Cut out most super sugary desserts too. Kinda blah but fine for now.

Also my natal Mars in Taurus (out of sign square Pluto) will generally persist with dogged determination - now Neptune & Co. are squaring that.Doncha love this transit?! Say, I wonder if this is the transit causing the "no shows" at work? The times you made a point to be punctual (Saturn) and no one came (Neptune & Co)? :-)

Oh I'm sorry about your wrists, Neith. You never know how much you use your hands until it hurts you to do so. :(

I guess we can't stretch everywhere but the good thing is that you're busy. Having things to do is a great blessing :)

thanks for your comment neith,
as predicted he got in contact not long after saturn turned direct!! not sure where we go from here, but currently just relieved he is ok. he had his saturn return a while ago, as turns 36 this yr and his saturn is in cancer.and i am aware that saturn will conjunct his sun/uranus nov 2011 and again in june 2012! im hoping though by then, we have a better understanding of each other and wont feel the need to cut me off completely when he feels low.
hope your wrist feels better soon! i suffered with it around the time saturn conjunct my ascendant and personal planets too! ouch.

oh, neith, dear, so sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel problems. Are you doing stretches for the wrists before doing any work? My doctor feels that anything can be fixed if we're willing to do the exercises for it.

hmmm...some of those are new to me. But you know me! I think everything is cured by yoga. grin. I'm with you there, however. There are days when my hands don't wake up for hours.

Hey Casey!!

My doctor feels that anything can be fixed if we're willing to do the exercises for it.Oh good! I like that idea too. Checked out several of the videos on the webpage you sent and like them. The exercises I've been doing have focused on stretching and working the shoulder and arms, so finding some good ones for the hands is perfect. Tseka recommended using Traumeel ointment and Ruta Grav homeopathic remedies and those have helped. The other key is to avoid overdoing.

Pulling weeds is not the best for this condition either so I'm only doing short stints of weeding. That means my flower beds are less than pristine . . .

I think everything is cured by yoga. grin. Love it! :-D

Sounds like you are shoring up in preparation for Saturn! Smart! Having just been through a near triple-pass of Saturn over my Venus, I've learned I'd better look ahead and think about Libra.

Did you find any morels? Mmmm. Lots of smart people here with good advice on healing the wrists. Call me crazy, do you think Chiron action in your 3rd ? has anything to do with it?

I love sextiles, too. I am seeing so many happy couples lately with lots of sextiles between their charts. One of my astro "projects" is to figure out how my Moon-Saturn sextile works for me.

I've tried a lot of things including tight gloves that were meant for this. bleck.

I believe that stretching the palm up and down (while at arm's length) is one that works pretty well for me. You hold your arm out straight, palm up (like STOP!). Gently pull back on the fingers. Then bend the hand down in the opposite direction. Hold stretches for at least 30 seconds.

Love your hummingbird on the other post. Hope you're still reading this post.

Hi Casey . . .

I've tried a lot of things including tight gloves that were meant for this. bleck.I've seen those advertised in knitting magazines. They look like they would be unbearable to wear in hot weather.

I've been trying out some of the exercises on the website you sent. They do seem to be helping, especially if I remember to wear my wrist braces when typing, etc.

One thing is quite obvious is there will be no more extended sessions of anything involving repetitive movements. Oddly enough, spinning is not nearly as hard on the wrists as typing. Pulling weeds is very tough too (gripping hard).

I wonder if those of us with fixed sign Mars (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) have to run into a brick wall to get us to pace ourselves. Generally we're physically pretty tough types.

Love your hummingbird on the other post. Hope you're still reading this post.Hummers are so amazing. Fearless little things. Yes, I set it up so new comments are emailed to me. :-)
